Honing your EMDR practice with a Consultant in Training

EMDR Consultation

Once you’ve done your EMDR training and 10 consultation hours, you’re off to the races using this awesome modality to help clients! You may eventually want to take the next step toward your EMDR certification, which requires 20 hours of additional EMDR consultation, completion of EMDRIA approved continuing education, practice hours with clients, and recommendation letters from peer EMDR clinicians and consultants. At least 10 of the consultation hours must be done in an individual setting. Visit the EMDRIA website to learn more about the requirements and explore continuing education opportunities.

I am a Consultant in Training, which means that I can provide consultation for up to 15 of the 20 required consultation hours for certification. The remaining 5 or more hours must be completed with a fully EMDRIA approved EMDR Consultant, and I can provide references to some great ones!

Why work with a CIT?

EMDR Consultants in Training can be a great option to receive high-quality EMDR consultation at a reduced price as the CIT learns and works toward their own full consultant status. In order to be a CIT, I had to become certified in EMDR myself, meeting all the above outlined requirements! I am enjoying the marriage of my consultation skills as an LCSW Supervisor with the EMDR modality that I love to use with clients in my own practice. I offer a rate of $30/hour for individual consultation.

I currently am working with Kelly Slaven, LCSW Supervisor, EMDR Consultant and Trainer, and co-owner of The Haven Wellness Center to facilitate my training as a CIT.
